Hydroforming

präzise Umformung mit Hochdruck

Hydroforming is a modern forming process used to manufacture complex sheet metal components. HAPPICH uses sheet hydroforming, in which sheet metal is formed into the required component geometry using a liquid pressure medium at extremely high pressures of 2,000 bar and above.

The sheet metal is placed in the forming tool and, during the process, is pressed evenly against the contour of the die by controlled hydraulic pressure. Unlike conventional forming processes such as deep drawing, sheet hydroforming requires only one shape-defining tool half. The opposing tool half is replaced by the hydraulic pressure.

This enables complex geometries, tight radii, large forming depths, and flowing contours to be produced with high dimensional accuracy and repeatability. At the same time, the uniform pressure distribution ensures controlled material deformation and high surface quality.

A particular advantage is the ability to integrate additional functions directly into the component geometry. Beads, reinforcements, and specifically designed contours can increase the rigidity and load-bearing capacity of the component without requiring additional parts. This can reduce weight and material usage while eliminating weld seams and joining points.

HAPPICH uses this process to form a variety of metallic materials, including stainless steel, aluminum, and sheet steel. Even sophisticated components with high-quality visible surfaces can be produced.

HAPPICH's expertise covers the entire manufacturing process – from component and blank design to toolmaking and the actual high-pressure forming process, as well as subsequent processing and surface finishing.

HAPPICH hydroforming thus enables the cost-effective production of lightweight, robust, and functionally integrated components for vehicle manufacturing, mechanical engineering, and other industrial applications.
